Beijing Forestry University

Beijing Forestry University (BFU) was established in 1952 as “Beijing Forestry College”, which was changed into “Beijing Forestry University” in August 1985. Now it has become a national key multi-disciplinary university characterized by forestry, biology and forestry engineering, with well-coordinated courses in the fields of agriculture, science, engineering, management, economics, liberal arts, law, and philosophy.

BFU began its postgraduate enrollment in 1955 and overseas enrollment in 1965. It was ranked into the national key university in 1965. In 1982, State Council authorized the university to be one of the first universities that enjoy the privileges of conferring Master’s and Doctorate Degrees. It is also one of the national “211 Project” and “Action Plan for Education Revitalization toward the 21st Century” universities.

The university consists of 13 colleges and schools, has 1502 full-time faculty members, of whom 948 are teachers and researchers.Among them, five are academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE). The current number of students exceeds 20,000. The university offers forty-one Bachelor’s Degree programs, seventy-three Master’s Degree programs, thirty-five PhD programs, and four post-doctoral programs. There is a national basic science teaching and research base in BFU, as well as four national and ten provincial/ministerial-level key disciplines, one national engineering technology research center, one national field science observation station and nine provincial/ministerial-level key laboratories.

The university makes point to international exchange and cooperation consistently. It has established good exchange relationship with more than 150 universities in 31 countries and regions all over the world.

BFU is following out the strategy of invigorating the country through science, technology and education, and making arduous efforts to build itself into a world-famed and national high level university by fully exerting its advantages in all aspects.
