Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) is a top university under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education. It gained its current name on May 26, 2000 after merging with the former HUST, Tongji Medical University and Wuhan Urban Construction Institute. The University is one of the first group universities listed in the national “211 Project” and “985 Project”.

HUST is one of the China’s top universities. It eleven disciplines covers philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, agriculture, science, engineering, medicine and management. It offers a variety of programs, including 75 undergraduate programs, 200 Master’s programs, 139 PhD programs and 22 post-doctoral research centers. It has 4 leading national laboratories, 4 national engineering research centers and 16 leading laboratories at the ministerial or provincial level. It boasts of over 50,000 registered full-time students with over 34,000 are undergraduates and more than 17,000 are postgraduates.
