In June 2005, Liu Chuangsheng began her tenure as the Chairperson of the University Council, Beijing Normal University.
Prior to assuming her position, Liu Chuansheng served as the Minister Counselor for Education, Chinese Embassy in the United States from 2003 to 2005. During her tenure, she contributed significantly to the Sino-American bilateral educational cooperation and exchange.
Liu Chuansheng served as the President and Senior Chief Editor of China Education Press Agency from 1997 to 2003 and Vice President from 1994-1996. As the President, she has overseen a major restructuring of the administrative and governance structure, significant improvements and major expansions of China Education Press Agency. China Education Press Agency is the largest educational publishing house directly under the Chinese Ministry of Education and one of the most prestigious sources on education in China. It has two nation-wide major education newspapers (China Education Daily, Chinese Teachers) and periodicals (People Education, Higher Education in China, Ethnic Minority Education, China Scholars Abroad).
Liu Chuansheng earlier served as First Secretary in the Education Office of Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom from Nov. 1990 to Dec. 1993. After teaching Computer theory and working in the University Youth League in Tsinghua University from 1975 to 1985, Liu Chuansheng became the Division chief of the State Education Commission from 1985 to 1990. Liu Chuansheng was the Chinese Communist Party's 15th & 16th National Congress representative. She is the member of China Education Association for International Exchange, standing committee member of China Women Entrepreneurs Association. She has received numerous awards and honors including the Special Stipend Award from the State Council. She has produced wide publications. Liu Chuansheng holds a master’s degree in management information system and a bachelor's degree in industrial automation from Tsinghua University.
