Wu Bin
Chairman of the University Council
Beijing Forestry University

Professor and Dr. Wu Bin, born in Shaan Xi province, P. R. China. He is now the Chairman of the University Council of Beijing Forestry University and the Secretary-General of the Chinese Society of Soil and Water Conservation.

Professor Wu Bin studied in Yunnan Forestry College (now Beijing Forestry University) majored in Water and Soil Conservation and began his career in this university after graduation in 1982. Later on from October 1987 to October 1988 he studied in the Hokkaido University, Japan, and obtained his Ph. D. Degree there. In August 1997, he was promoted as the Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation, State Forestry Administration (SFA). And in April 2001, he became the Deputy Director-General (Director-General Level) of the Department of Afforestation at SFA. Since January 2004, he was appointed as the Chairman of the University Council of Beijing Forestry University by Ministry of Education, P. R. China.

For years, Professor Wu Bin has been engaged in teaching, research, and administrative work in the area of forestry, soil & water conservation, and desertification combating. Due to excellent research work conducted he was awarded two first prizes for Science and Technology Achievements from the Ministry of Forestry (now SFA), two second prizes of National Prize for Science and Technology Achievements from the State Council, and one third prize for Science and Technology Achievements from then State Education Committee. He and jointly with others published more than 30 academic papers, 4 books and 2 works of translation.
