Professor. Dr.-Ing. President of University of Science and Technology Beijing
Prof. Xu Jinwu, born in Zhejiang Province of China, graduated from Department of Mechanical Engineering at Beijing University of Iron and Steel Technology in 1976. He obtained MSc Degree at the same University in 1981. From 1984 to 1988, he became a doctoral student at Technical University of Aachen, Germany and gained Dr.-Ing. in 1988. Since 1993, Prof. Xu was appointed as the Vice President of University of Science and Technology Beijing and currently serves as President. He is Vice-President of Chinese Society of Metal and director of China Association of Metallurgical Equipment.
His particle field of research is theory and method of condition monitoring and fault diagnosis, signal processing and pattern recognition. He successfully developed several remote condition monitoring systems based on web and surface defect inspection system of rolled strip. He introduced nonlinear time series analysis in signal processing and pattern recognition. These research results are widely used in practical condition diagnosis systems.
He was awarded the Second Class Prize of Science and Technology Research issued by Ministry of Metallurgical Industry.
