Dr. Robin Forman
Dr. Robin Forman serves as the Dean of Undergraduates at Rice University, a position he has held since February of 2005, and Professor of Mathematics. He received his B.A. and M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1981 and his Ph.D in Mathematics from Harvard University in 1985. He joined the Rice faculty in 1986 after serving on the faculty at MIT. His primary research interests are combinatorial topology and geometry. Dr. Forman is Rice's first Dean of Undergraduates - this position was created by Rice's President David Leebron upon his arrival at Rice in 2004. In this capacity, Dr. Forman is responsible for overseeing the undergraduate experience at Rice, including academic issues, especially those aspects related to general education, as well as all non-curricular components of student life. Of special interest are those projects that incorporate elements both in and out of the classroom, such as the new Center for Civic Engagement, which supports opportunities for our students to participate in scholarly research and design projects that address the needs of the Houston Community.
