Clover Lee
Clover Lee received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University and a Master of Design Studies from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. After having previously taught at University of Southern California and University of California Los Angeles, Clover is currently an assistant professor at Rice University School of Architecture.
The design studios and seminars taught by Clover have been investigating post-Fordist models of systematic production. Confronting new scales of architecture - from skyscrapers and multi-scalar projects in China to structural surfaces - the research focuses on systems of production that are defined by technical adaptability, generating flexibility, serial morphology and differentiation. Clover is the director of the Rice School of Architecture China Program (RSAC). Current research focuses on examining strategies of approximation in the design of large-scale developments in China.
Clover is the principal of plusClover, where her work has received awards and has been exhibited internationally. Recent awards include the Design Excellence Award for the Living Smart: Narrow Lots Design Competition in 2004. Current commissions include two residential projects and a commercial building in Los Angeles.
