About the Event
The Pickens Plan proposes measures to utilize U.S. wind and natural gas to build a bridge to the future—a blueprint to reduce foreign oil dependence by harnessing domestic energy alternatives and buying time for the United States to develop even greater new technologies. The plan calls for generating 22% of our electricity needs through wind power and using the displaced natural gas for transportation fuel. According to plan estimates, a combination of these domestic energies could replace 30%-50% of U.S. foreign-oil imports over the next 10 years.
