Al Troner, President of Asia Pacific Energy Consulting (APEC), a Seattle-based tactical consulting company focusing on commercial oil and natural gas issues for Asia Pacific and the Mideast Gulf since 1995. Mr. Troner has been a contributor to the Baker Institute research program since 1997. Troner worked for Dow Jones energy services in Singapore from 1984 to 1987 and returned to Singapore in 1989 to found a regional office for Petroleum Intelligence Weekly. From 1987-89, he worked for the East West Center's energy group and was the co-recipient of the 1994 International Association of Energy Economics award for journalism in 1994. Mr. Troner holds a B. A. from the State University of New York, Stony Brook and an M. A. in energy economics from the University of Hawaii. Mr. Troner is author to numerous commercial and academic studies on Asia Pacific/Mideast energy issues such as the future of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and gas to liquids (GTL), Oil and Oil Products Trade in Asia, Asian oil refining, Mideast Gulf energy export trends.
