What's New...
Starting the week of November 27th Student Health will be transitioning to an electronic health records system. This new technology will help build upon our commitment to excellence in quality of care for Rice University students and we are very excited.
During the week of November 27th – December 1st (11/27 – 12/1) Student Health will be implementing this new system. Due to staff time required for training we will not be able to have our usual patient schedule and appointment availability will be reduced. We ask that students consider postponing routine (i.e., non-urgent) appointments until after December 1st. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
Lunchtime (noon-time) appointments now available Monday through Friday! By popular demand we have added appointments during the lunch hour 12 - 1 PM
Jessica McKelvey, MD joins Student Health and adds to our existing physician staff. Dr. McKelvey is Board Certified in Family Practice and is a Rice graduate (B.A., Biology, 1993). Lydia Leyva, RN is also a new addition. The expansion of clinical services will help us better meet the needs of our student community.
- FALL 2006. Student Health goes paperless. During the Fall semester we will transition to an electronic medical records system. eClinicalWorks will provide Rice award winning technology with a proven track record. This CCHIT (Certification Commission for Health Information Technology) certified system will ultimately foster greater understanding of the needs of our students and improve every aspect of our mission. An exciting part of this system is a patient web portal. This system should be in place and running by November 2006.
Women's Health : New HPV Vaccine now available: Student Health has received and will offer the new HPV vaccine (Gardasil). Call x4966 to set up an appointment if you are interested in receiving this vaccination series. More information on the HPV vaccine can be found at the CDC website.
