Opting Out of Rice's Blacklist and Greylist Service

In order to implement a robust solution for spam and phishing issues, all Rice email customers are automatically included in the new blacklist and greylisting services.

Utilizing blacklists and greylists turns away at least half of the spam and phishing messages that attempt to enter the Rice email systems on a daily basis.

Not all Rice email customers wish to be included in this service. If you prefer to receive every email message sent to your Rice address, an "opt out" feature has been created especially for you.

Opt Out with your NetID

To opt out of the blacklist and greylisting service, login to the following web site with your NetID and NetID password, then follow the simple instructions to ensure you receive all messages sent to your Rice email address.

https://my.rice.edu/EmailBL/

If you never set a NetID password, you'll need to set one at http://apply.rice.edu by clicking the "NEW USER" link. Once you have a password, wait about 20 minutes and go to the opt-out page: https://my.rice.edu/EmailBL/ Call the Help Desk (x4357) if you have problems.

Keep your DSPAM

Using or opting out of blacklists does not affect or replace DSPAM and Spam Assassin. Continue to utilize DSPAM for messages that enter the Rice email system. More information on DSPAM --including a clever video-- is available HERE.
