Rice Wireless Network Project
Project Overview
Like most other leading universities, Rice has a campus-wide wireless network. There are two different wireless networks including Rice Owls and Rice Visitor.
- Rice Owls is only avialble to users with a Rice Network ID and Password. Rice Owls uses WPA and WPA2 Enterprise Encryption for data protection. For more information on how to connect to Rice Owls please visit the Wireless Networking Tutorial.
- Rice Visitor is designed for visitors to Rice University who don't have a Network ID and Password. Data that travels though the Rice Visitor network is not encrypted.
- Rice is the old wirless network that is being replaced with Rice Owls. You should only connect to Rice wireless if Rice Owls is not available in your building yet. For instructions on how to connect to Rice wireless, please visit the wiki.
