Backup

Rice students and employees alike should backup up important data and files. As more and more buildings and computers are migrated to the new network, more Rice students and employees are connected to the enterprise storage system that provides automatic backups and snapshots of prior data every four hours.

However, not everyone utilizes the enterprise storage system. Files saved to a PC or Mac desktop are not included in storage backup or snapshots. Other non-storage drives are also excluded from the automatic backup. Students and employees not currently on the new network might not have any drives mapped with automatic backup features.
