Podiums

Although many people think of a podium as an architectural platform used to raise something above its surroundings, at Rice a podium houses electronic tools and other devices that augment the instructor’s presentations.

Podiums usually contain some type of computer to drive the other tools and applications available in that classroom.  Remote controls to turn projectors on or off, or to raise and lower screens may also be found in or on Rice classroom podiums.  Based on the courses taught in each classroom, additional technologies may be present, including video capturing or conferencing.

For a list of the technologies available in each classroom’s podium, simply browse the Educational Technologies’ web site for the classroom or lab you are interested in utilizing.  Or for a particular technology, search on your requirements using the web form found at http://ricetv/rooms/roomsearchform.php
