Dialup Using Rice's 800 Phone Number

Setting up your Account

Department chairs may request a toll-free account code from Network Services for faculty and staff who travel out of the local calling area.  Usage charges will be billed to the University FUND/ORG specified in the account request.   NOTE: "Toll Free" isn't free! The rate for dialup access using the 800 number is approximately 50 cents per minute.

Get a Dialup Account

Establish your Dialup account through apply.rice.edu. You may only apply for Rice accounts if you are in the boundaries of the Rice campus network. On the introduction page for apply.rice.edu, read through the platform requirement information and use the bottom link to continue. On the next web page, use the sidebar navigation selection to apply for a new account. Sign in through the secure system and continue through the pages until you can select "User" as your type of account. The next page of options will allow you to select "Dialup Terminal Server". Complete the application to submit the request for a dialup account.

Get an 800 number PIN

Complete and send the PIN request form with the appropriate authorizations (for charges to your department budget) to Networking Services, MS-119 . Select either the .pdf version or the on-line version of the PIN request form. Allow three to seven work days for processing.
