Scenario: I'm a Visitor to Rice

Rice visitors with portable computers or PDAs can pick up a wireless Internet connection in many locations across the campus. Agreement to follow the Rice University Appropriate Use of Computer Resources policy is required before access to the Internet through the Rice guest or visitor channel is granted.

Getting Started

  1. Will I be able to use the campus wireless? Yes. Connect to the "Rice Visitor" network.
  2. Will I be able to use a campus computer lab? Some classroom and lab computers are available to you if you are enrolled in a program that provides access and a guest account. Public access computers are available in Fondren Library.
  3. Where can I go to use these things? Your course instructor will direct you to the labs available for your use. Fondren Library is in the center of the campus.
  4. Will Rice help me with my computer problem if I am a visitor? Rice does not support guest computers. For hardware or software issues in classroom or lab computers, contact the Help Desk: helpdesk @ rice.edu, http://helpdesk.rice.edu, or 713-348-HELP (4357).
