Personal Call Assistant (PCA) is a telephone feature that allows you to program another telephone number to ring simultaneously when a call is directed to your campus telephone. This additional number can be another campus extension or an outside number, such as a cell phone or home telephone. This telephone system features is licensed per telephone and can be easily programmed for a nominal fee.
How do I get started?
For more information, including setup, contact Telecommunications at tele@rice.edu or call x5555. Licenses cost $16.00 and there is a one-time programming fee of $18.75.
Usage Instructions
PCA is easy to use once it has been activated for your extension.
To Activate PCA
- Dial *7222
- Enter your extension number, your password (last 4 digits of SS#), and "9" for off campus, Area Code + Number and then press the "#" key.
- If you do not answer within (4) rings the caller will get your campus voicemail. However, if you have your cellular number programmed as your alternate number and have your cell phone in the "Off" position, then the caller will get your cellular voicemail box.
To Deactivate or Turn Off PCA
- Dial *7223
- Enter your extension number, your password (last 4 digits of SS#), and the "#" sign.
- You will hear a confirmation tone.
To verify whether PCA is turned ON or OFF
- Dial *7228
- Enter your extension number, your password (last 4 digits of SS#), and the "#" sign.
- If PCA is active, you will receive a triple acceptance tone. If PCA has been deactivated, you will receive a busy signal.
