Setting Up and Using Multiple Mailboxes

About Mailbox Setup: All mailboxes must be set up at the beginning of each academic year. Mailbox #1 must be set up first. Setting up Mailbox #1 requires following steps 2, 3, and 4. Then, Submailboxes (#2–#6) may be set up. Setting up a Submailbox requires initially logging on with the Mailbox #1 password, so the owner of Mailbox #1 must provide that password, which may later be changed to a private password. To complete setting up a Submailbox, follow steps 2, 3, and 4.

Step 1 - Setting up a Mailbox

For Mailbox #1
Dial: 3000 from your telephone
The first person to set up a mailbox automatically enters the voicemail system. Instructions will prompt the user to create a password, greeting, and name.

For Submailboxes
Log on with Mailbox #1 password
Press: 9 on the main menu to select setup
Press: 9 to select other options
Press: 2 to select submailbox setup
Press: #
Follow the prompts for setting up a submailbox.

Step 4 - Recording a Name

After logging on (to your Submailbox):
Press: 9
Press: 3
Press: 4 to start recording
Press: # to end recording
Play back name:
Press: 1
Re-record name:
Press: 4 to start recording
Press: # to end recording
Save recording:
Press: 2
Press: * to return to mailbox setup

Step 2 - Changing a Mailbox Password

Each mailbox password must have a prefix of 1 (for Mailbox #1), 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 (for Submailboxes).

After logging on:
Press: 9
Press: 2
Enter: your new password
Press: #
Enter: the same password again
Press: #

You are automatically returned to Mailbox setup when your password has been changed.

Logging On (after initial setup)

From your telephone:
Dial: 3000
Press: #
Enter: password + #

From another telephone:
Dial: 3000 on campus, 713-348-3000 off campus
Enter: Extension number + #
Enter: Password + #

Step 3 - Recording a Greeting

After logging on:
Press: 9
Press: 1
Press: 4 to start recording
Press: # to end recording

Re-record the greeting:
Press: 4 to start recording
Press: # to end recording
Delete the greeting:
Press: 3

Save the greeting:
Press: 2
Press: * to return to mailbox setup

Playing Back Messages

After logging on:
Press: 1 to play messages
Press: 2 to keep messages
Press: 3 to delete messages

While playing a message, you may:
Press: 7 to skip back
Press: 8 to pause
Press: 8 again to continue
Press: 9 to skip forward
Press: 54 to decrease volume
Press: 56 to increase volume
Press: 51 to play date & time stamp
