Mathworks MATLAB Release 2007b Version 7

MATLAB License Period

The license period runs from October 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008 and we have 1,000 floating licenses which are deployed through the license server and can be accessed through the Rice network from a Rice machine ONLY.

Some toolboxes are also licensed. For information on the list of available toolboxes and the quantity of licenses available for each, contact Manager of Procurement & Vendor Relations, Charlita Marrs, at charlita@rice.edu

The current network versions are 7.4, Release 2007b, available for Windows OS, Mac OS X, Unix and Linux.

MATLAB License Cost

A network license is available at no cost for faculty and staff. Students may use MATLAB that is installed on Rice owned computers ONLY.

MATLAB Installation

MATLAB can be accessed through the Rice network from a Rice machine ONLY.

Students who need to use Matlab can use it on Owlnet UNIX machines, the educational computing system. Faculty and staff can obtain a license from the license server through the Rice network to use on Windows 95/98/NT, Mac OS X, Unix, and Linux. This license is for computers that are connected to the Rice campus network only.

Users need to submit a request at helpdesk@rice.edu for installation of the software. Be sure to include your building, room number, and your contact information. A divisional representative should contact you within 24 hours.

MATLAB Home Use

MATLAB offers also stand alone (personal) licenses and anyone can purchase these separately for personal computers.

Faculty and staff may purchase a personal license for either office or home use or both. Email Peter Sheridan at peter.sheridan@mathworks.com for more information. These licenses should be used for academic related applications only.
