Section 1: HEALTH CARE IN THE UNITED STATES AND THE UNITED KINGDOM: A
COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS
The examination of the British National Health System
including visitations to public health facilities, hospitals, and government
offices. Three week travel/study in the United Kingdom offered during May/June
on alternate years.
SECTION 2: SEMINAR ON INTERNATIONAL HEALTH PROBLEMS
This
upper level seminar is designed to increase student's awareness of the multiple
dimensions and complexities involved in understanding the health of people from
diverse geographic, political, economic, and cultural backgrounds. Thus, the
seminar course will explore issues and concepts of delivery and acceptance of
health care, traditional health belief customs and practices, epidmiology and
public health prolems, demographic and environmental characteristics as well as
intervention methods among selected worldwide populations.
