BROW 226 THE CULT FILM EXPERIENCE Credits 3.00 Spring 01
Since the beginning of the motion picture industry, films have played an
integral role in informing and entertaining their audiences. Some films have
gone beyond that. Serving as markers in time, they have helped to define the
audiences who watch them. These are cult films. Understanding how they have
developed and what they stand for lends us great insight into our society and
our culture. This class will study Cult Films as an art form as well as a
sociological phenomenon, from their first apperance to the present day, in
order to gain an understanding and an appreciation for them and their messages.
