ITAL 101   ELEMENTARY ITALIAN I                     Credits 4.00  Fall 02
This course is designed for students with little or no knowledge of Italian. We
will concentrate on all language skills and provide basic elements of Italian
civilization and an overview of current events and ideas. Classwork will be
supplemented by regular attendance of language laboratory. We'll discover Italy
in all its aspects: culture, art, music, cinema, fashion, food. Enrollment is
limited to 20.

ITAL 201   INTERMEDIATE ITALIAN I                   Credits 3.00  Fall 02
* DISTRIBUTION COURSE: GROUP I
A review and consolidation of the structure of contemporary Italian. Literary
and cultural readings serve as a basis for the class discussion and
conversation.  Oral reports and compositions will help to increase fluency and
naturalness.  This course also includes videos, films and original readings.
Enrollment is limited to 20.
Pre-req- Ital 102 or placement exam.
