Registration Information
NOTE:
Rice University offers a series of courses in Neuroscience
jointly with Baylor College of Medicine. These courses, which
are offered to graduate students and advanced undergraduates,
are often taught on the Baylor campus and run by the Baylor
calendar, which differs from Rice's. If you are interested in
these courses, please consult the Neuroscience at Rice website
(http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~neurosci/) for further information
as well as for instructions on how to get the permissions
necessary for enrolling in these courses.

NEUR 501 COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE I Credits 3.00 Fall 02
Overview of neuropsychological and cognitive neuroscience approaches to higher
mental functions including sensation and perception, attention, motor control,
and neuroplasticity. Other topics include basic neuroanatomy, experimental and
clinical investigative methods and the historical and philosophical context of
contemporary neuroscience. Also offered as PSYC 575. Enrollment is limited to
15.

NEUR 511 INTEGRATIVE NEUROSCIENCE CORE I Credits 5.00 Fall 02
A broad introductory survey covering all aspects of neuroscience, team-taught
by faculty from Baylor College of Medicine. Includes a lab at Baylor.
Enrollment is limited to 20.

NEUR 516 SENSORY SYSTEMS Credits 3.00 Fall 02
A two-part course covering sensory transduciton in audition, touch, and the
chemical senses, and a detailed coverage of the visual system, including
retinal structures and central pathways, phototransduction, receptive fields,
and functional organization in the cortex. Enrollment is limited to 10.

course will be meet at Baylor College of Medicine in the Alkek Building, room
N301.
Prereq- NEUR 511 and 512 and permission of the instrucor.
