RICH 363 INTRODUCTION TO PERSONAL FINANCIAL PLANN Credits 2.00 Spring 02
The course includes a broad range of material designed to provide a core of
knowledge about personal investments. An understanding of the principles of
financial asset management is essential to portfolio management. These include
the basic concepts of risk and return, diversification and portfolio
efficiency. Key elements of the dynamic and continuous process of portfolio
management include:
1. Establishing investor objectives and constraints
including return requriements, risk tolerance, liquidity, time horizon, tax,
and other circumstances.
2. Factoring in economic expectations given
historical trends and future indications of social, technological, economic,
political and other world events.
3. Constructing portfolios taking into
account investor objectives, personal constraints and market
forces.
Enrollment is limited to 25.
