GMAN 376 CONTEMPORARY GERMANY: FROM POSTWAR TO PO Credits 3.00 Spring 97
* DISTRIBUTION COURSE: GROUP I
The course will establish through textual and visual materials the

context will be reflected by examples from documentary sources,
literature and film of postwar and postunification Germany. Focus will
will be placed on how GDR and FRG authors and filmmakers came to grips
with their fascist past; how they depicted their former ideologically
different environments; and what cultural resonance has developed since
the merger of the two states. Readings and class discussions in
English. Films are subtitled.
