Catalog of Audio/Visual Equipment

This is a list of the various items available for use in the Student Center or for checkout/pickup. Items that are picked up will require a signature and valid Rice ID.

Please do not forget to look over the price list. Some items DO require a non-refundable rental fee.

LCD Projectors

The Student Center has a limited number of LCD projectors. Projectors are used to take an image an display it in a larger medium (i.e. wall, screen, etc). All units have the following:

• 1 Digital Video Interface (DVI) input
• 1 S-video input
• 1 RCA video input
• 1 3.5mm mini-stereo input

Projection Screens

There are a fixed number of projection screens. General size varies from 6' x 8' to 7' x 9' (4:3 aspect ratio).

All screens are of a Matte-White fabric type for general AV use.

TV/VCR Units

We have thirteen TV/VCR units and one TV/DVD on rolling carts. Television sizes vary from 12 inches up to 36 inches, depending upon availability.

Camcorders and Tripods

We have 3 Panasonic camcorders available for checkout. Also, we have 3 Bogen tripods available to help you achieve that ultra-steady shot. Each camcorder request automatically comes with a tripod, so there is no reason to request one separately.

Sound Systems

Package #1, Micro System

• Good for voice amplification for a small group meeting.
• One JBL EON speaker
• One microphone.

Package #2, Small System

• Good for music amplification for a medium/large event, background music for outdoor events
• Portable rack (CD/tape player)
• Amplifier rack
• Two JBL speakers

Package #3, Medium System

• Music and voice amplification for a medium/large event, background music and announcements
• Everything in the Small System, plus up to six microphones and boom stands

CD/Cassette Players

There are three CD/Cassette players available for checkout. These units run on standard AC current and have one cassette deck and one CD player built-in. A radio tuner is also built-in.

We also have two (2) Marantz and one (1)Sharp professional cassette recorders. Each unit has a built-in microphone as well as the ability to record audio from external sources such as VCRs, CD players, etc.
NOTE: This unit plays and records audio cassettes only.

Overhead Projectors

We have eleven units ranging from products by 3M, Dukane and other manufacturers.
95% of all units are dual-bulb units meaning that you can switch to a spare bulb with the turn of a knob.

Slide Projectors

We have five slide projectors. Each unit comes equipped with a carousel, a wired remote.
Wireless remotes are available by request. (Remember to request this item when you request the slide projector; see below.)

Wireless Slide Projector Remotes

We have a certain number of AMX single-projector wireless remote controls and an AMX dual remote wireless. Availability varies by demand load.

Slide Viewer

We have one Telex Caramate slide viewer, which make it easy to view your slides without a projection device.

Tables and Chairs

The Student Center has twenty outdoor tables, depending on availability, that they can rent outside of the building complex. It is the responsibility of the user to coordinate transportation to and from event site.
