The Rice Student Center staff consistently strives to better serve the campus community.

The Rice University Student Center employs over 100 students just like yourself to assist in overseeing the building and keeping it operating the way you want it to! If being part of a great team while developing "transferable" skills (along with getting a paycheck) is what you are looking for - look no further!

The Student Center hires students for the positions in the following areas: Building Operations (Building Assistants, Building Managers, Building and Information Desk Supervisors), Coffeehouse employees (keepers of coffee), and at Willy's Pub (day/night bartenders).

Working at the Student Center has many benefits:

  • Bi-weekly paycheck - salaries vary depending on responsibilities of the position
  • Flexible schedules - depending on your position, the hours you can work can vary from 2 to 20 hours a week
  • Professional development - leadership training occurs in two all-employee trainings in the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters, as well as smaller in-services throughout the year
  • Transferable skills - include customer service, goal setting, time management, teamwork, challenge solving, creative thinking, human relations, business and accounting principles, technical knowledge, and office expertise
