Student Center Advisory Council

The mission of the Student Center Advisory Council (SCAC) is to provide input on all facets of Student Center operations so that the Student Center is student-friendly, functional, and balances the often competing needs of Rice students, university departments, alumni and outside organizations. The Council is responsible for: establishing policies concerning the use of Student Center facilities (from operating hours to reservation policies), advising the Student Center staff on the most fiscally responsible projects based on student interest and wishes, determining priorities for upgrades to the facilities, and working cooperatively with the Student Association and Rice Program Council to assist the Student Center in fulfilling its mission statement.

Membership

The membership of the Council is representative of the users of the facility, with the majority being students. The presidents/chairs of the following organizations serve on the Council: ADVANCE, Career Advisors, Graduate Student Association, KTRU, Rice Broadcast TV, Rice Program Council, Rice Student Volunteer Program, Student Association, and the Thresher. The Student Managers of the following Student Center operations serve on the Council: Building Management, Coffeehouse, Information Desk and Willy's Pub. There is a representative from each of the following user categories as well: alumni, faculty, and staff.
