NEWS IN BRIEF: Alcohol ID stickers available

Alcohol validation stickers for students IDs are available at the Campus Police Annex. Under the new alcohol policy regulations, students must get a small Owl sticker for the back of their IDs in order to be served alcohol at parties.

Another new regulation involves the exclusive use of wristbands at parties to denote those above the legal drinking age.

Alcohol servers must be retrained each year in order to be certified. Check the Student Handbook for a complete rundown of the new university alcohol policy.

When the new alcohol policy regulations were released at the end of last year, Vice President for Student Affairs Zenaido Camacho released a statement outlining how the policy would be enforced in the future.

Of the eight goals for alcohol policy enforcement, one calls for a uniformity of penalties and enforcement amongst the college courts and/or cabinets.

Present enforcement ranges from nonexistent to excellent. They also call for individual and collective student responsibility in reporting alcohol policy violations and enforcing those regulations.

The statement said that in order for the alcohol policy to be correctly enforced, there must be strong support from the college chief justices, the college presidents, the resident associates, the college masters, the Dean of Students and the Campus Police along with University Court.
