NEWS IN BRIEF: No new developments in assault investigation

There have not been any new developments in the investigation of an alleged sexual assault which took place on campus two weeks ago.

According to Fred King, media spokesperson for the Houston Police Department, a woman, age 25, was assaulted by three white males as she was leaving her car for Fondren Library at 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 15. The assault took place in Lot J, just west of the Student Center along Laboratory Road.

"From what we know, they [HPD] don't have any suspects yet," Assistant Chief of Campus Police Tom Bickers said. "HPD may have some [suspects], but we haven't got that information from them yet."

Bickers said that the incident caused Campus Police to reflect on patterns it may be getting into.

"We want to be predictably unpredictable. We have tried to make sure that if a student does ask for an escort or help, they know that somebody's coming," he said.
