Midnight Madness set for tomorrow night

by Tony Tran

Tomorrow night at 10 p.m. at Autry Court, the men's and women's basketball teams will celebrate Midnight Madness.

Despite the fact that official practices began almost two weeks before, Midnight Madness is supposed to introduce the men's and women's teams to the student body.

The gym will open its doors to the students at 10 p.m. sharp with the first 500 (and probably more) students receiving a free T-shirt. Then, the festivities begin with the introduction of the teams by respective head coaches Willis Wilson and Christy McKinney, and there will be some video highlights from last year. The Rice Dancers and MOB are expected to perform.

The women's team will play a scrimmage game while the men will participate in a three-point shooting contest and slam dunk contest. Students will be involved in games, such as Dizzy Izzy and Knockout, to win prizes, including free basketball shoes and dinners.

After the games are over, the Student Association will sponsor a party in the gym lobby with free pizza, free beer and a live DJ.
