SPORTS NOTEBOOK: Golf finishes 9th in Lubbock


A strong final round boosted the men's golf team to a ninth-place finish at the Red Raider Intercollegiate Tournament in Lubbock.

The Owls were lead by Tim Carlson whose three-round score of 220 earned him a sixth-place finish.

A two-under-par final-round score of 70 boosted John Lawrence to a ninth-place finish.

Also competing for the team were David Lawrence and Kalani Kiaaina who both tied for 48th place and Andy Rapp who finished in the 53rd position.

The Owls, ranked 16th in the nation by Golfweek , next compete at the Stanford Intercollegiate in Palo Alto, Calif.
