NEWS IN BRIEF: Pre-A&M game events


The Rice Program Council has planned several events to promote the upcoming Rice-Texas A&M football game on Thurs., Nov. 9.

On Wed., Nov. 8, there will be a rally in Willy's Pub beginning at 10 p.m. Both the rally and the game will be televised by ESPN, who will also award T-shirts to students who bring posters about the game. The posters will be shown during the game.

Head Coach Ken Hatfield will address the crowd at 10:30 p.m.

On Thursday night, the RPC Spirit Committee will sponsor a tailgate party. Dinner will be served in the courtyard between the Student Center and Herring Hall.

Tickets will be available from the college headwaiters beginning Nov. 6 through lunch on Nov. 9.

Students with on-campus meal plans can purchase their tickets with the prepaid dinner plan; off-campus students can purchase tickets from their headwaiters for $2.70.

Faculty, staff and their families can purchase tickets at the door for $3 per person.

There will be a raffle for T-shirts and Rice pom-poms. The Pub will be selling beer during the tailgate party.

Following the game Thursday night, the Pub will host a postgame party. Admission is free with a ticket stub from the football game.
