NEWS IN BRIEF: SA approves owl chambers
The resolution supports bringing non-releasable, rehabilitated, great-horned owls back to the Rice campus. These owls were injured in the wild and were healed, but they cannot be re-released.
"First, we have to get permission for the owl chambers to be built," Director of Student Activities Sarah Nelson Crawford said.
The next step in the process is to get the administration's approval for the building and location of the owl chambers. After these approvals have been obtained, the owl chambers can be constructed.
However, the chambers have to be inspected by game wardens before Rice can start looking for owls.
"I've been working for several years trying to get the permit approved," Crawford said.
