NEWS IN BRIEF: Gate plans approved

According to President Malcolm Gillis, permanent gates will possibly be installed by March.

Gillis said that the reason why the gates have taken so long to be approved is because the Board of Governors wanted to make some modifications to the existing plans.

"The only thing holding it up was that changes suggested at the May Board [of Governors] meeting led to cost escalations that no one anticipated," he said.

He stressed that the installation of the new permanent gates is for purely decorative reasons and will not affect the security of the campus.

The gates were supposed to be installed by the end of this semester, but that will not be possible because of the cost escalation.
