SPORTS NOTEBOOK: Women's basketball inks 4
Brumfield, a 5-8 guard, was a first-team all-state selection by Texas Basketball magazine. She averaged 12.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.8 steals during her junior year.
Cafferty, a 5-9 guard, was a USA Today high school all-America selection for the 1994-1995 season. She averaged over 20 point and 5 assists per game while shooting 87 percent from the free-throw line.
Jordan was a first-team all-district selection last season. The 6-1 forward averaged 15.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.1 steals during her junior year.
Ludwig, a 5-8 point guard, was a Street and Smith's all-America selection.
She averaged 18.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists, leading her team to the quarterfinals of the Arkansas Girls State Basketball Tournament.
Head Coach Christy McKinney said, "My staff and I are extremely excited about this year's recruiting class. If you look in the Rice record books, you won't find a recruiting class with as much quality of play per player as this one.
"We graduate four perimeter players after this season, and we have signed four perimeter players who complement one another with their style of play."
