FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1

*The Football Homecoming Bonfire and Pep Rally Party kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at the Band Field. Come help the coaches, team captains and the MOB rev up for their final Southwest Conference game. Free T-shirts, pizza, beer and soft drinks.

* Sid hosts its annual Oktoberfest. 10 p.m. - 2 a.m. in Sid Richardson College. $1 admission or get in free with purchase of a T-shirt.

* In recognition of World AIDS Day, Planned Parenthood is offering free, confidential HIV testing at Fannin Clinic. For more info., call 529-8844.

* The Rice Media Center pays tribute to Akira Kurosawa, presenting a double feature of his funniest comedies. See Yojimbo at 7:30 p.m. and stay for Sanjuro at 9:20 p.m. $3.50 with a student ID.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2

* Career Services and the Thresher are throwing a Tailgate Party. 2 p.m. in the Rice Stadium Lot.

* Hanszen College is sponsoring a homecoming party, providing a DJ, free food and drinks. 10 p.m. - 2 a.m. at Hanszen College.

* A homecoming brunch and awards ceremony honors John Baird and Orville D. Gaither in the Kyle Morrow Room of Fondren Library at 9:30 a.m.

* Come cheer for the football team as it battles the Houston University Cougars in its final Southwest Conference game. 4 p.m. at Rice Stadium.

* Women's basketball takes on plays on Bradley University at Autry Court at 8 p.m.

* The Houston Rockets play the Charlotte Hornets. 7:30 p.m. at the Summit.

* Playwright Scotti Sween's "An Unnatural Woman" opens at the New Heights Theater, 339 W. 19th St. 8 p.m.

* The Shepherd School of Music hosts a homecoming concert featuring the Rice Chorale, the Shepherd Singers, Sallyport and the Shepherd School Brass Ensemble. 8 p.m. in Stude Concert Hall.

* The Rice Media Center presents Postcards , a film inspired by the autobiographical writings of David Wojnarowicz, who died of AIDS in 1992. The movie focuses on the challenges faced while growing up gay. Shown at 7:30 p.m. and again at 9:30 p.m.

* Director Mika Kaurismaki's Tigrero makes its Houston premier at the Museum of Fine Arts. 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $4 with a student ID. For more info., call 639-7515.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 3

* Ricardo Scofidio of Diller + Scofidio speaks as part of the Rice School of Architecture Lecture Series. At 7 p.m. in the Farish Gallery. For more info., call 527-4864.
