Many of the Rice football program's memories are linked to the SWC. Among other impressive football achievements, Rice has had:

*10 Houston Post MVPs;

* five players and two coaches in the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame;

* 27 athletes on the SWC Academic Honor Team.
