SPORTS NOTEBOOK: Rugby Improves to 4-0
Senior Marshall Pounds and junior Chris Blache both scored tries. Pete Marketos added a penalty kick.
"Because they [alumni] were heavily favored, the shutout was extra special," Blache said.
On Nov. 18, the Owls hosted Sam Houston State University. Both teams were undefeated going into the match. The Owls won a hard-fought match 22-13.
Marketos scored two tries, and juniors Brendan Daly and Blache both added another. The second side also won 18-15.
"We fought tooth-and-nail," Blache said. "This certainly was a step in the right direction."
The Owls are now 4-0 in their division.Their goal is to hold the top seed at the Texas Rugby Union Championships in March.
