NEWS IN BRIEF: International students delayed by shutdown
Several international students and scholars were delayed while returning to Rice over the Christmas break because of the U.S. federal government shutdown.
Wiess College senior Carmen Peralta is still in Colombia waiting for her visa to be renewed. Her expected date of return is Feb. 8.
According to International Services Director Jane Dunham, Peralta is the only international student who is still being delayed by the shutdown.
