SPORTS NOTEBOOK: Women's tennis defeats SFA without losing a set
The women's tennis team swept Stephen F. Austin State University 9-0 last Saturday.
The match was moved to the Chancellor's Racquet Club from Jake Hess Tennis Stadium due to bad weather.
The top performance was by fourth seed Vessie Ivanova, who shut out SFA's Audra Smith 6-0, 6-0 in a 40-minute match.
Top-seed Paula Myslivecek defeated Jodi Jablonski 6-0, 6-2. Jessica Gagnon and Erin Talton both won their matches 6-0, 6-1.
Jennifer Velasco beat Tiffany Reese 6-4, 6-1. Justyana Gudzowska rounded out singles play with a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
The team has earned a 38th-place national ranking.Next on the agenda is a match tomorrow against 27th-ranked University of South Alabama.
