SPORTS NOTEBOOK: Draper leads women's swimming over Houston


The women's swimming team won a dual meet versus the University of Houston by a score of 126 to 112.

Sophomore Heather Draper took first in both the 100- and 200-meter backstroke events.

In the 100-meter breaststroke, Rice claimed the first three spots. Jennifer Moriarty took first, followed by Kirsten Nagle and Robin Davidson.

Other individual event winners included Nagle in the 200 breaststroke, Cory Teague in the 100 butterfly and Meghan Marty in the 50 freestyle.

The team also placed first in two relay events.

The 200 medley team finished over two and a half seconds over the nearest Houston team. The Owls also finished first in a 400 freestyle relay exhibition race.
