FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 9
* Today is the deadline to add courses or designate the pass/fail option.
* Come to "The Love Boat" party in the Brown College Commons from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. There will be free mixed drinks, beer and soda and a combination of disco, early '80s and club music. Cross-dressing is encouraged.
* You ought to be in pictures. Career Services is hosting videotaped interview sessions. Come get your interviews on camera to discover all of your annoying quirks and how to eliminate them. 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the Career Services Center.
* Ermo , described by the New York Times as "a delicious, unexpectedly wry comedy from China about keeping up with the Joneses," premiers at the Museum of Fine Arts at 8 p.m. $4 with a student ID.
* The Rice Media Center presents Last Days of Chez Nous at 7:30 p.m. and again at 9:30 p.m. $3.50 with a student ID.
* The Global Outreach Symposium lasts from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Student Center. This conference will consist of three discussion panels of health care representatives who serve people in need of health care on local, national and international levels. A volunteer fair runs from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Free food. Sponsored by the Rice Pre-Medical Society.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10
* Come see the women's basketball team take on the Houston University Cougars. 4 p.m. at Autry Court.
* The Young People's Concert, an entertaining program for all ages, features the Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra. 11 a.m. at Stude Concert Hall. There will be excerpts from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet . Free.
* Ermo shows again at the Museum of Fine Arts at 7:30 p.m. $4 with a student ID.
* Louis Malle's Pretty Baby plays at 7:30 p.m., followed by Malle's futuristic film, Black Moon , at 9:30 p.m. This double feature plays at the Rice Media Center and costs $3.50 for one or both films with a student ID.
* The Asian American Writers' Workshop of Houston is holding a poetry writing workshop from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more info., call 523-7578.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 11
* The Shepherd School presents a faculty recital featuring bassoonists Benjamin Kamins and Janet Raric. Other performers are oboist Robert Atherholt, double bassist Timothy Pitts and harpsichordist Thomas Jaber. 2 p.m. in Duncan Recital Hall. Free.
* The Campanile Orchestra, led by conductor Howard Rappaport, performs in the Shepherd School Stude Concert Hall at 8 p.m. Free.
* Karin Månsdotter , a real-life Cinderella story, shows at 7 p.m. at the Museum of Fine Arts. $4 with a student ID.
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12
* If you need a haircut, today is your lucky day. Barber Day lasts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Grand Hall lobby of the Student Center. Sponsored by SCAB. Cost is $5.
* The weekly SA meeting is held at 10 p.m. in Kelley Lounge of the Student Center.
* The Shepherd School presents "The Fischer Duo" -- cellist Norman Fischer and pianist Jeanne Kierman -- who will fill the Duncan Recital Hall with the sounds of the complete Brahms Sonatas for cello and piano. 8 p.m. Free.
* Career Services begins its week-long "Job Search Series." Learn about jobs available with companies not recruiting on campus.
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13
* The weekly RPC meeting begins at 9 p.m. in Miner Lounge of the Student Center.
* The Houston Rockets take on the Dallas Mavericks at 7 p.m. at the Summit. For more info., call 629-3700.
* The Shepherd School presents Chamber Music for Winds, a concert that begins at 8 p.m. in Duncan Recital Hall. Free.
* The Career Services Center's seminar, "How to Establish Yourself in the Industry of Your Choice," runs from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
* Career Services hosts a lecture in Sewall Hall room 303 entitled, "Careers in Public Relations and Marketing." 7 p.m. - 8 p.m.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14
* The women's basketball team will take on the Southern Methodist University Mustangs at 7 p.m. in Autry Court.
* Rice Dance Theatre, Rice's modern dance group, presents its annual concert, "Synaptic Misfires and Other Stories," featuring original choreography by students and faculty. 8 p.m. in Harjo Dance Studio (on the first floor of Autry Court, near the weight room). $5 for students, $7 for the public. Reservations recommended. Sign up on the list outside the studio to reserve tickets.
* Tickets for tomorrow evening's Murder Mystery Theatre are available at the Student Center Information Desk for $3 until noon. They can be purchased at the door for $5.
* A Shepherd School faculty recital featuring violist Robert Diaz, guest guitarist Julian Grey, violinist Kathleen Winkler and cellist Desmond Hoebig begins at 8 p.m. in Duncan Recital Hall. Free.
* Learn to harness the power of career fairs to get yourself an enjoyable job. The Career Services Center's lecture on how to use a career fair effectively runs from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15
* Blue Ink, a creative writing workshop presented by University Blue , meets every Thursday in front of the CoffeeHouse at 9 p.m. Bring published or personal poetry and prose to be critiqued.
* Come see the Houston Rockets battle the San Antonio Spurs at the Summit. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. For more info., call 629-3700.
* SCAB brings the Murder Afloat Mystery Theater to the Grand Hall of the Student Center at 7 p.m. Dessert and coffee will be served. Tickets cost $3 before noon on Feb. 14 or $5 at the door.
* The Career Services Center will tell you how to get the salary you want and look good doing it. The lecture, entitled "How to Negotiate a Job Offer," is from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
