* If you are running for office, turn in your blurbs to the Student Organizations Office by 5 p.m.
* Rice Dance Theatre performs its "Synaptic Misfires and Other Stories" in Harjo Dance Studio on the first floor of Autry Court at 8 p.m. The cost is $5 for students and $7 for the public.
* The Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra presents conductor Larry Rachleff and pianist John Perry at Stude Concert Hall at 8 p.m. Free.
* The Day the Sun Turned Cold , a tale of murder in the spirit of The Postman Always Rings Twice , premieres at 8 p.m. at the Museum of Fine Arts. $4 with a student ID.
* The Rice Media Center presents a double feature. The Hit , a gangster film about two hit men who take an unnervingly droll captive on a deadly ride across Spain, starts at 7:30 p.m. Stay for Mona Lisa , a film about London's underworld. It begins at 9:30 p.m. $3.50 with a student ID for one or both films.
* The Rice Environmental Club and the Houston Sierra Club are co-sponsoring a lecture and slide show by Rick McIntyre on wolf conservation and Yellowstone Park. McIntyre is an author, wildlife photographer and park ranger who knows firsthand about the highly controversial wolf reintroduction program in Yellowstone. 7:30 p.m. at Hamman Hall. Free for Rice students. Cost is $5 for the public.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17
* HACER hosts a study break in the Grand Hall of the Student Center at 9 p.m. Enjoy free food and drinks.
* The RPC-sponsored Rodeo Kickoff Party will be held from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Student Center in the Grand Hall. Come and experience the best of Texas culture. There will be kicker dancing, several live country bands and free beer and margaritas.
* Come to Autry Court to see the men's basketball team take on the Texas A&M Aggies. 7:35 p.m.
* The Houston Aeros play the Atlanta Knights at the Summit at 7 p.m. For more info., call 629-3700.

* LEGALEASE, the new prelaw club, hosts "The Back-To-Back Comparison of Princeton Review and Kaplan Strategies for the LSAT." 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. In Sewall Hall, Room 305. Free hints about the LSAT. For more info., call 630-8207.

* Election candidates' mug shots for publication in the Thresher will be taken from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Thresher office in the Student Center.

* Rice University's Edward Djerejian, director of the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy, presents "U.S. Policy Toward Islam and the Arc of Crisis." 4 p.m. in the Kyle Morrow Room in Fondren Library.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21
* The Rice Collegiate Career Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Student Center.
* Come see the men's basketball team battle the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs. 7:35 p.m. at Autry Court.
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 22

* The Department of Space Physics and Astronomy presents a talk by Dr. Edison P. Liang entitled "Gamma Ray Bursters: Physical Mechanisms and Distance Scales" at 4 p.m. in the Space Science Building, Room 106. Come enjoy tea and cookies beforehand at 3:30 p.m. in Room 220.
