Lunar New Year

The second annual Lunar New Year celebration will be taking place in the Grand Hall on Feb. 23.

The festival is being organized by members of the five Asian clubs: Chinese Student Association, Korean Student Association, Southeast Asian Students, Rice Taiwanese Association and Vietnamese Student Association.

The program opens with the keynote speaker, Houston City Councilwoman Martha Wong, followed by the CSA Dragon Dance troupe.

The clubs will provide a wide array of ethnic foods, cultural performances and displays of traditional crafts and games.

The five Asian organizations are putting on the event to promote the "cultural aspects of the New Year holiday season based on the lunar calendar," CSA President Ming-ye Kuo said.

The festival will run from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Student Center.
