SPORTS NOTEBOOK: Warren finishes eighth in Olympic marathon trials
Two weeks ago, Rice Assistant Track Coach Jon Warren ran in the Olympic marathon trials and finished eighth.
"My finish was a bit of a surprise," he said. "It was a personal record by almost three minutes."
Warren, the Rice record holder in the indoor mile and 3,000 meters, noted one benefit of no longer running for a university.
"Unlike the students," he said, "I actually get to keep the prize money."
