NEWS IN BRIEF: New teaching award
Nominations from students are currently being sought for a new annual teaching prize to be awarded to an Associate or Full Professor on the Rice faculty.
The Chance Prize will be the first teaching prize to be determined not only on classroom teaching but on such activities as professional mentoring and advising.
"The idea was to broaden the criteria that are normally considered for teaching awards to include out-of-class as well as in-class interactions," said Jackie Ehlers, chair of the Rice Women's Commission.
Nominations should be sent to the Rice Women's Commission, c/o Jackie Ehlers, Chair; School of Social Sciences. Nominations should be received by April 4.
