FRIDAY, APRIL 19
* Brown College hosts a TG with hot dogs, soda, chips and beer. There will be music, a slip 'n' slide, volleyball, a water fight and a watermelon-eating contest. In the Brown College Commons from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
* Sid Richardson College hosts its party, Ground Zero, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the SRC Commons. As usual, there will be abundant free beer, soft drinks, snacks and great music. Show your Owl the cool flashing lights and radiation warning signs.
* A travel agent will be stationed in the Grand Hall of the Student Center to help students with their travel plans. All day.
* Come root for the baseball team when it takes on Texas A&M at 7 p.m. at Cameron Field.
* See the Houston Astros play the Cincinnati Reds at 7:05 p.m. at the Astrodome.
* Come to Wiess Jazz Night to kick back and hear some great soul music. It runs from 9 p.m. to midnight in the Wiess College Commons. Free wine and cheese.
* Bread and Circuses New Music Ensemble Performance is a concert of contemporary music. It will feature Peter Maxwell Davies' Eight Songs for a Mad King , works by John Cage and Daniel Pour and a short play by David Ives. At Wortham Opera Theatre in Alice Pratt Brown Hall at 8 p.m. Free.
* A Christian alternative acoustic folk-rock band is giving a free outdoor concert in front of the Sallyport. Caedmon's Call Concert runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Founder's Court.
* AMM, a highly renowned ex-perimental group from England, will perform at Hamman Hall at 9 p.m. Admission is $10 for the public and $5 for students with an ID. Your Owls get in free if they come with you. Sponsored by KTRU.
* London , a cinematic journey through the soul of London, plays at 7:30 p.m. and again at 9:30 p.m. in the Rice Media Center. Admission is $4 with a student ID.
* The Lost Weekend -- winner of Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director and Best Screenplay -- is a celebrated drama best remembered for Ray Milland's compelling performance as a desperate alcoholic. It begins at 8 p.m. in the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. Admission is $4 with a student ID.
* It's opening day for Zion Canyon: Treasure of the Gods , an IMAX theater presentation which ex-plores Utah's Zion Canyon in Utah in all of the breathtaking detail IMAX offers. It's at the Houston Museum of Natural Science at 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. It costs $5. For ticket info., call 639-IMAX.
SATURDAY, APRIL 20
* Baker College hosts its annual kicker party -- complete with lots of country music, beer and food. It runs from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in Sewall Courtyard unless it rains, in which case it will take place in the SRC Commons. Free. Owls are welcome.
* Happy Earth Day. Be sure to recycle this copy of The Rice Thresher . (I'm glad I can use this forum to speak out.)
* Fondren's Saturday Night XVI honors Harris Masterson III. Cocktails and dinner to benefit Friends of Fondren Endowment Fund. In Cohen House at 7 p.m. For more info., call 285-5157.

* Sweet Smell of Success , the quintessential portrait of the Great White Way's sleazy underside, unveils the relationship between ruthless columnist J.J. Hunsecker (Burt Lancaster) and sycophantic publicist Sidney Falco (Tony Curtis). At the Museum of Fine Arts at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $4 with a student ID.
SUNDAY, APRIL 21
* Greek Evening '96 is an evening of Greek music and live dance performances. There will be Greek dessert, too. Admission is $2 for students and $3 for others. Sponsored by the Aegean Club. 6:30 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Student Center.
* The Houston Rockets take on the Phoenix Suns at the Summit at 2:30 p.m.
* The Astros play the Cincinnati Reds at 1:35 p.m. at the Astrodome.
* Tim Berne's Bloodcount, a modern jazz band, will perform at Mary Jane's (located at 4216 Washington). Admission is free for students with an ID. The show costs $10 for the general public and $5 for non-Rice students. Sponsored by KTRU.
* J. Lyle , Bill Plympton's new film, plays again at 7:30 p.m. Also to be shown is Plympton's short, "How to Make Love to a Woman." At the Rice Media Center. Tickets costs $4 with a student ID.
MONDAY, APRIL 22
* The weekly SA meeting begins at 10 p.m. in Kelley Lounge in the Student Center.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24
