* Bring on the tight-rolled jeans. Sid Richardson College is hosting its Early '80s party from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the SRC Commons. There will be free beer and other refreshments, and, of course, your favorite '80s tunes.
* RSVP hosts a TG cookout from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Ray Courtyard of the Student Center. Enjoy free sandwiches, desserts, beer and soda while seizing your last opportunity to sign up for Fall Outreach Day on Sept. 28.
* Job hunting? Career Services sponsors the Houston Career Fair and Minority Job Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Student Center.
* Witness a day in the lives of three young men in a ghetto-like suburb of Paris. Hate ( La Haine ) has been referred to as "one of the best movies ever made about teens and cities and the fierce excitement they inspire in one another." (French with subtitles.) Hate shows at the Rice Media Center at 7:30 p.m. and again at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $4 with a student ID. For more info., call 527-4853.
* A faculty recital, featuring cellist Norman Fischer and pianist Jeanne Kierman, will begin at 8 p.m. in Alice Pratt Brown Hall. Free.
* Lecturer and Professor Martin J. Wiener speaks on "Victorian Men Who Killed Women: Why They Did It, What Happened to Them and What We Can Learn From Them" at 4 p.m. in Sewall Hall, Room 309.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 21
* "Kaman Iwana Lei Ya," featuring DJ Quest from 97.9 KBXX FM The Box, lasts from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the Will Rice College Commons. Tank up on beer and refreshments. Wearing beach attire is the only admission requirement.
* The Texas Coastal Beach Clean-up in Galveston lasts from 9 a.m. to noon. See your college RSVP rep for details.
* Come see the first home football game of the year when the Owls take on the Kansas State Wildcats. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Rice Stadium, and admission is free with a student ID.
* Hate ( La Haine ) shows again at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. at the Rice Media Center. Tickets cost $4 with a student ID.
SUNDAY, SEPT. 22
* Show your support for our student athletes at the Sports Carnival held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the courtyard between Herring Hall and the Student Center.
* The Rice Chalice, a Unitarian organization, holds its meeting at 7 p.m. in Rayzor Hall, Room 240.
* Root for the volleyball team when they play the Florida Gators at 1 p.m. in Autry Court.
* Hate shows again at 7:30 p.m. at the Rice Media Center. Tickets cost $4 with a student ID.
MONDAY, SEPT. 23
* The RSVP meeting begins at 9 p.m. in the Miner Lounge in the Student Center.
* The SA starts its meeting at 10 p.m. in the Kelley Lounge in the Student Center.
TUESDAY, SEPT. 24
* A faculty recital, featuring mezzo-soprano Joyce Farwell, guest baritone Robin Rice and pianist Thomas Jaber will begin at 8 p.m. in Alice Pratt Brown Hall. Free.
WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 25
* ADVANCE hosts a political forum from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Farnsworth Pavilion.
* A roommate forum, sponsored by CAPP and the Counseling Center, will meet at 9 p.m. in front of the CoffeeHouse in the Student Center. Hear fellow students speak about roommate experiences and talk to CAPP members about your specific roommate problems. Refreshments will be served.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 26
* Interactive Video Fun Flicks begin at 8 p.m. in the Pub in the Student Center.
