EMPIRE CAFE

Judging by the crowds, Empire is the place to be in this part of town. On one visit there late on a Sunday, we had to wait in line and even had some trouble finding a table.

They have a large selection of food and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner starting at 7:30 a.m. every morning. They also had the largest selection of desserts that we have seen.

Empire serves beer and wine, but they have some of the best coffee drinks we have tried. Try the "Sugar Daddy" and the "Milky Way."

There are picnic tables lining the sidewalk on Westheimer, making Empire a good place to meet people. Be prepared to be buzzed by cars cruising by.

Inside, you will find the walls decorated with exotic portraits and a dim but lively atmosphere. Empire is on Westheimer between Dunlavy Street and Shepherd Drive.
